Four gallant Executioners turned out for the club against an RFA Club team made up of regulars from the Alleyn Old Boys Club and including multiple national champion Hamish Buchanan. Sadly, despite some great games and close rallies, the RFA ran out winners by 79 points to 44.
Mind you, the match was closer than the scoreline suggests. Our first pair, Andy Pringle & Ben Hale, actually won two of their four games, and were only three points down overall. However, the outcome of the match was effectively sealed in the first round of games, when the hard hitting of the RFA’s Ed Ronan and Johnny Heath saw off Robert Mathias and Alex Cranstoun comfortably.
Still, we live to fight another day – and that day will be next Wednesday, when we face Oxford University.
